Suwannee Lights to open this weekend

- Homemade ice cream, hot coffee and more are available after taking the driving tour of Suwannee Lights.
LIVE OAK — The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is ready for Christmas on the Suwannee with its favorite annual Christmas tradition Suwannee Lights holding its 2018 grand opening Saturday.
Many new, gorgeous, exciting Christmas displays, millions of spectacular lights, drive and walk through displays, photo opportunities, campfire songs, s’mores, hot cocoa, the nationally famous Puppetone Rockers to entertain the kids beginning Dec. 6, photo opportunities, campfire singing, and more are here to help families make unbelievable, precious memories during this Christmas season.
Each Tuesday is Busy Bee night at Suwannee Lights. People can see the lights free with a Busy Bee ticket that can be used only on Tuesday nights. Tickets — limited to one per person — can be obtained at participating Busy Bee Food Stores by purchasing select merchandise.
Thousands are expected to bring their families to this spectacular presentation of fixed and moving displays to include Nutcracker soldiers, birds, animals, tractors, helicopters, storybook characters, Christmas scenes and more to delight young and old. Children can meet Santa and his friendly, adorable elves Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights inside the Country Store, including Christmas Eve.
Suwannee Lights is open nightly (rain, cold or heat) Dec. 1 – 30 for people to drive through and enjoy from 6–10 p.m. at the Music Park, north of Interstate 10 and South of Interstate 75 on U.S. Highway 129, at the Suwannee River. Entertainment is provided every Friday night with Lyndie Burris Knowles, with children welcome to take the stage and sing their favorite Christmas song. This Saturday will feature the famous Mercy Mountain Boys of gospel fame. Every Friday and Saturday also features campfire singing plus the Puppetone Rockers, who arrive Dec. 6.
After taking the magical drive-thru, people are invited to park their vehicle and walk through the SOSMP’s garden and amphitheater filled with thousands of lights and unique displays. People can enjoy an up-close look at the wonders of Christmas as you make your way down the path to the Music and Lights Finale.
Along with Suwannee Lights, the SOSMP has karaoke every Thursday night 7–10 p.m. in the Music Hall (free admission/Music Hall opens at 5 p.m. for dinner) with Ted “TeddyMac Elvis” McMullen, live bands every Friday and Saturday night (free admission/doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner/music begins at 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday) and an annual New Year’s Eve Party (advance tickets available now).
