Master Gardeners to feature holiday decor at workshop

DOWLING PARK — The Master Gardeners’ monthly workshop will focus on holiday decor at the Jo Kennon Public Library in Dowling Park.
The workshop, which is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, is entitled “Nature Provides Holiday Decor.”
In addition to the workshop, the Master Gardeners will be at the library from 9:30-11:30 with their seed library for patrons to check out three packets of seeds per month. The seed library will also be open Dec. 20.
Also on Thursday, county historian Eric Musgrove will discuss the early 1940s during his History of Suwannee County series. Musgrove will present at noon.
The library is hosting movies the next three weeks on Thursdays and Saturdays. The Thursday airing will be at 3 p.m. with a 1 p.m. showing on Saturdays. Contact the library for that week’s movie title.
On Dec. 13, the library’s Barbershop Chat discussion group will meet at 10 a.m. Topics of interest will range from history to current events. Coffee and snacks will be provided. The Barbershop Chat will also be held Dec. 27.
Also on Dec. 13 at 1 p.m., a cookie exchange will be held. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to bring three dozen cookies — one dozen to sample and two dozen to exchange.
A rock painting party will be held Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. All supplies are provided.
Jennings Bunn will discuss a recent trip to Ireland during Armchair Travels at 10 a.m. Dec. 21.
The library will be closed, as will all the Suwannee River Regional Library branches, on Dec. 24-25 for Christmas.
The library is also hosting a Starbooks Cafe from 9:30-11 a.m. on Tuesdays and the public is invited. Dec. 11 will feature sewers, Dec. 18 will feature the “Good ol’ Days.” Those attending don’t have to bring a story, they can attend for the coffee and listening experience as well.
The library’s story time is held every Wednesday at 10 a.m.
