SOSMP’s busy weekend includes Terry Cole, Soulshine, Brainquility Festival

LIVE OAK — The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park can help those without plans find plenty to do this weekend.
The weekend starts off Friday with Terry Cole and his band in the Music Hall. Saturday in the Music Hall, it’s Soulshine entertaining. Saturday and Sunday will also feature the Brainquility Music & Arts Festival featuring a multitude of great bands such as Opiuo on Saturday and Lotus on Sunday as well as Roosevelt Collier, The Heavy Pets and many more.

Meanwhile, down in Steinhatchee on the Gulf of Mexico, a Suwannee River Jam Audition will take place Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with solo and duo artists. Then, at 1 p.m. bands will begin to audition.
Friday night at the SOSMP Terry Cole and his great band from Central Florida will take the stage in the Music Hall at 8 p.m. This band is a long-time favorite at the SOSMP. Band leader Terry Cole is the lead vocalist and plays lead guitar. Producing music that spans all genres, the band entertains crowds in all venues ranging from country, Southern rock, classic rock, dance music, classics and hits from the 70s, – 90s.
Saturday night in the Music Hall, Soulshine, of Fitzgerald, Ga., will crank up its multi-genre music for a big Saturday night. This band plays psychedelic rock, outlaw country, classic rock, Top 40, blues, folk, hip-hop and R & B music. These guys, Jason “Bam” Fuqua (lead vocals, guitar, bookings), Jason “JaLo” Jordan (lead guitar, vocals). Joel Jones (lead guitar, vocals), Scott Clark (bass guitar), Kenny Chin (piano, lead guitar, vocals), Country Dave Hollis (drums) and Jamie “Big Ben” Benson (harmonica, web design) can rock the house.
Doors to the Music Hall open Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. Music starts at 8 p.m. Free admission.
This is the first year Brainquility Music & Arts Festival has been held at the SOSMP. It begins in the Amphitheater and on the Porch Stage on Saturday and Sunday. Brainquility’s second year of producing this event gets underway at 11:45 a.m. Saturday with Side Trakd, Dan Fester, The Heavy Pets, Roosevelt Collier, Zach Deputy, BoomBox and Opiuo closing out the day around midnight. Sunday it’s Side Trakd, The Headtones, El Dub, Boombox and Lotus taking the stage to close the festival beginning at 6:30 p.m. Performing on the Porch Stage Saturday afternoon will be Space Kadet, Bells and Robes, Govinda, Flamingosis and Russ Liquid. Sunday on the Porch Stage will be Lespecial, Octave Cat and Chachuba closing that stage beginning at 5:30 p.m. Artist Shea Jasmine Peters will also be on site painting and showing off her beautiful artwork. The festival brings food vendors with everything from coffee to grilled cheese, pizza, smoothies and more. Suwannee River Jam Auditions will take place Saturday in Steinhatchee at the Steinhatchee Fiddler Crab Festival beginning at 10:30 a.m. when solo and duo artists will audition hoping to move to the finals at the SOSMP March 8 in the Music Hall. Bands will audition in the afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. Bands chosen will go straight to the SRJ without further audition.
