HAHIRA — Police are urging the public to come forward with any information or security camera videos that might help find the culprits in a Sunday night spate of car thefts and thefts from vehicles.
Police Chief Terry Davis said his department started getting calls about the thefts about 5 a.m. Monday.
Goods were stolen from five vehicles that were unlocked, including a Taurus 380 semiautomatic handgun, the chief said.
“You can’t even really call them break-ins because the cars were unlocked,” Davis said.
Two vehicles that were stolen were parked with the keys inside, he said.
The crimes took place in the area near Lafayette Street, Weaver Street, Coleman Road and College Street, the chief said.
Police are trying to enhance video a woman took on her phone of one of the cars being driven off, the chief said. Police don’t have any suspects yet.
“It had to be at least two people since two cars were stolen,” Davis said.
The chief urged anyone with information on the crimes, including possible video from security cameras, to contact Hahira police, (229) 794-2440, Ext. 4.
