Sheriff catches Turner County fugitive

VALDOSTA — Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies caught a 41-year-old man wanted out of Turner County for armed robbery.
Investigator with the Turner County Sheriff’s Office Jacob Horsley said the suspect has not been charged yet. The suspect reportedly pulled into a rest area on Interstate-75 and robbed a victim of about $140 in cash.
Horsley said the suspect then fled south on the interstate. A witness gave a description of the suspect and his vehicle, which allowed Turner County to release a Be On the Look Out for the suspect.
Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk said they received the BOLO at 10 a.m. Tuesday. About 30 minutes later, he said his deputies identified the man’s vehicle heading south on the interstate.
Paulk said the suspect attempted to flee deputies until he realized he was surrounded and quickly gave up the chase. The suspect was then taken into custody without any further incident, the sheriff said.
The suspect is currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail. he will face Lowndes County charges as well as Turner County charges for the robbery.
