As Valdosta grows, businesses open, move, renovate and close down. The following is a list of recent business happenings in Lowndes County and the surrounding area.
VALDOSTA
• Valdosta Stadium Cinemas, 1680 Baytree Road, completed its theater construction March 7. The theater is remodeling its main lobby. A dust wall has been put up that covers most of the lobby. The dust wall does not interfere with any of the theater’s retail products including popcorn.
• NK Nails and Lashes, 106 Northside Drive, Suite E, opened March 3. It is a full nail and eyelash salon. It is is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m Saturday. For more information, call (229) 474-4497.
• Torrid, 1700 Norman Drive, opened March 5 and held its grand opening March 9. Torrid is located in the old Sears-wing of the mall. The store specializes in clothing for plus-sized women. The store is open during regular mall hours: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday.
• Oweda’s Treasures,1900 N. Ashley St., opened Feb. 21. It is a vintage and collectible gift shop. It is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call (229) 834-9189.
• Cinnaholic Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls, 1609 Norman Drive, Suite A2, is currently under construction. It is expected to open sometime in April.
• Piggly Wiggly, 1105 Madison Highway, is expected to open about April. The location was previously a Winn-Dixie that closed about April of last year. The building is currently being renovated.
• 3645 Inner Perimeter Road, Friendly Express Gas Station opened Feb. 28.
REMERTON
• 1853 W. Gordon St. is under development for a mixed-use development that will feature multi-family residential and commercial properties.
• 1415 Baytree Road is under development for an indoor storage facility.
