The Accursed

A recent review urged readers to seek out “The Mighty Thor” story arc where Jane Foster is the thunder god.

The arc was written by Jason Aaron.

Aaron is still the writer of Thor and he was the writer prior to the Jane Foster-Thor series.

These collected issues are also worth finding.

Aaron dares do different things with Thor.

The Norse gods earth-bound Asgardia after the destruction of Asgard.

A peek into the distant future when Thor is old and king, when the Earth is a barren waste, and this one-eyed, one-armed old Thor battles a starving Galactus wanting to devour the ruins of Midgard.

In “The Accursed,” the third volume of the “Thor: God of Thunder” series, Aaron starts the long-running war with Malekith the dark elf.

“The Accursed” also introduces inklings into the coming “Mighty Thor” series.

Readers and Thor learn Jane Foster has cancer.

Thor talks to Mjolnir insinuating the hammer has a sentient will – a concept explored more fully in the Jane Foster/Thor storyline, an arc where the hammer deems Thor not worthy to wield it.

So, seek out the four collections of “Thor: God of Thunder” – “The God Butcher,” “Godbomb,” “The Accursed,” “The Last Days of Midgard” – then seek the “Mighty Thor” Jane Foster volumes.

They are worthy additions.
