Generals get lead late, blow past Saints

DASHER –– The Georgia Christian Generals snagged a late lead and defeated the Byne Christian Saints 17-7 on Tuesday. 

The game was tied at seven with the Generals batting in the bottom of the fifth when the Saints scored four runs in the fifth inning, but the Generals still managed to pull out the victory. Jack Peachy, Ismael Cave, and Dalton Malone all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Byne Christian fired up the offense in the first inning. After the Saints scored two runs in the top of the third, the Generals answered with two of their own. Byne Christian scored when an error brought in two runs. Georgia Christian then answered on a stolen base during Adam Smith’s at bat. Then Smith doubled, driving in one run.

Darren Long earned the victory on the mound for the Generals. He allowed no hits and no runs over 1/3 of an inning, striking out one and walking one.

Jake Dismuke was on the hill for Byne Christian. He allowed eight hits and seven runs over 3 1/3 innings, striking out one. Jameel Mitchell threw 1 1/3 innings out of the bullpen.

Rylee White started the game for Georgia Christian School Varsity Generals. He allowed five hits and seven runs over 4 2/3 innings, striking out ten.

Georgia Christian School Varsity Generals tallied one home run on the day. Long had a long ball in the fifth inning.

Georgia Christian totaled 13 hits. White, Smith, Long, Sam Wheeler and Grant Garrett each managed multiple hits for the Generals in the win. Smith and White each had three hits to lead the team.

Peachy went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Byne Christian in hits.

Georgia Christian hosts Fullington Academy on Monday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. The Generals wrap up the regular season in Statenville against Echols County on April 22.
