UPDATED 9:30 a.m. Friday: Valdosta City, Lowndes County Schools closed Friday

UPDATE: Valdosta State University announced a delayed opening on Friday, April 19, due to the threat of inclement weather.
Faculty, staff and students should be prepared to resume normal classes and business operations at 10 a.m. Friday, according to a VSU release.
Residence halls will remain open and staffed as usual.
As communities prepare for the reported severe weather Friday, April 19, schools across South Georgia are announcing closures.
Here are the current school systems that have announced there will be no school April 19:
Georgia Military College
Valdosta City Schools
Lowndes County Schools
Valwood School
Scintilla Charter Academy
Open Bible Christian School
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College
Brooks County Schools
Berrien County Schools
Lanier County Schools
Cook County Schools
Echols County Schools (closed for Easter break)
All school systems are expected to resume instruction Monday, April 22, except for Echols, which will return Tuesday, April 23.
