VSU baseball, softball to play doubleheaders vs Shorter

VALDOSTA –– The Valdosta State baseball game at Shorter was cancelled for today due to overnight rain in Rome, Ga.

The Blazers and Hawks will play the doubleheader scheduled for 12 p.m. today as planned. The Blazers baseball team is 24-18 this season (12-11 in the Gulf South Conference), having won 11 of its last 16 games.

Following the series, VSU is scheduled for a non-conference game Tuesday at Flagler and then will return home against rival West Georgia Apr. 27-28 for Senior Weekend at Billy Grant Field at Tommy Thomas Park. 

The No. 16-ranked Valdosta State softball series opener at Shorter was also cancelled Friday due to inclement weather. The series will now be a doubleheader today, beginning at 1 p.m.

The Blazers are 30-12 overall and 13-10 in Gulf South Conference play.

Following today’s games, VSU softball returns home to host Albany State in a doubleheader Tuesday at 4 p.m., before closing out the regular season at home Apr. 27-28 versus rival West Georgia.
