Tom Petty Tribute Show planned for SOSMP

- Godiva will open Saturday night at the Music Hall for the Tom Petty Tribute Show.
LIVE OAK — Get those dancing shoes ready folks, Hard Times Band will rock the Music Hall at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park on Friday with this new band to get everybody ready for Saturday night with the exciting Tom Petty Tribute Show and The Ultimate Tom Petty Tribute Band, The Wildflowers.
On Friday, the Hard Times Band of Valdosta, Ga., will kick off the weekend with its first gig at the Music Park. Band members David Williams (rhythm guitar/lead vocals/Valdosta), Roger Boykin (bass/lead vocals/Hahira, Ga.), Kenny Dimick (Sax/Jennings, Fla.) and Larry Butler (drums/Ocilla, Ga.) are eager to show music fans what the band can do after forming in the summer of 2018. These musicians have all played music with other bands for many years but now dedicate their music to Hard Times Band. Admission is free. Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday for dinner, the band takes the stage at 8 p.m.
Saturday is a huge night with The Tom Petty Tribute Show featuring the Ultimate Tom Petty Tribute Band The Wildflowers. The Wildflowers pay tribute to Florida’s own Tom Petty who died at age 66 in 2016. Petty, from Gainesville, formed his first band, Mudcrutch, and later Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to become famous. You know most of his most famous hits such as “Don’t Do Me Like That,” “American Girl,” “Refugee,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “I Won’t Back Down,” “Free Fallin” and many more. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Wildflowers take the stage at 9 p.m.
Opening for the tribute band is Godiva, a sensational 16-year-old singer out of Jacksonville who is a stage sensation. Godiva just played the Suwannee River Jam and she sings all genres of music.
