DASHER – The Georgia Christian School Class of 2019 graduation was held recently in the Lacey Elrod Gymnasium, on the school’s campus.
Friends and family filled the gym to see their graduate cross the stage to receive their diplomas, school officials said.
Mike Johnson (Class of ‘97), Bible teacher, offered the commencement address. He advised graduating seniors to take the “best years of their lives” beyond high school, to keep doing the things they like to do, even if they aren’t as good at them anymore, to learn to take care of themselves, and to thank those who have always taken care of them before.
He admonished the seniors to “take out the trash,” both literally and figuratively.
Salutatorian Annie Eilders advised her fellow seniors that “life is what you make it.” She encouraged them to maintain a positive attitude and outlook on life, and nothing would be impossible.
Valedictorian Michael Yared spent much of his speech thanking his family and the school’s faculty and staff for their dedication in helping him succeed, and also talked about the next chapter of the lives of the members of the senior class.
The Class of 2019 left behind a cash donation as a class gift for a flag pole for the new middle school. Seniors honored the special people in their lives in a rose ceremony.
A reception was held afterwards honoring the graduates in the school’s cafeteria.
