Hamilton County senior Amhwe Bell will play as a linebacker in the FACA North/South All-Star Classic.

THE VILLAGES — Two area standouts will get to show their talents against some of the state’s best players this weekend.

Hamilton County’s Amhwe Bell and Lafayette’s Jaxson Beach were selected to play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s 65th North/South All-Star Classic, which is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at The Villages High School.

Bell and Beach will represent the North in the All-Star game.

A 5-foot-11, 180-pounder, Bell will play linebacker for the North. For the Trojans, Bell racked up 73 tackles, including 12 for a loss, with one sack. That included a season-best 16.5 tackles in Hamilton’s season finale Nov. 1 against Paxon, with four stops behind the line. The physical defender also had 16 tackles against Lanier County and 10 against Fort White.

While chosen for his defensive work, Bell also started at running back for Hamilton County and played every snap on special teams. He rushed for 597 yards with four touchdowns, highlighted by a 291-yard, three-score outing in Hamilton’s 39-13 win against Robert F. Munroe.

The 5-11, 180-pound Beach is a two-time All-State quarterback that rewrote Lafayette’s record books. As a senior, Beach guided the Hornets to a 9-2 record while completing 63.9 percent of his passes for 2,416 yards with 26 touchdowns to just three interceptions.

Beach also led LHS with 1,332 yards and 23 touchdowns rushing on 177 carries.

For his career, Beach amassed more than 10,000 yards of total offense, setting a new school record with 6,995 yards passing and 84 touchdowns. His 51 rushing scores is also a new program record as he added 3,238 yards rushing.

Hamilton County coach Richard Vester is an assistant for the North team, which has 38 players including Florida High’s Willie Taggart Jr. as its other quarterback. Class 1A champion Madison County has three players on the team, including running back Vinsonta Allen and offensive linemen Zac Coe and Zane Herring.
