DALTON, Ga. — Dalton High School running back Jahmyr Gibbs has added yet another honor.

On Monday, Sports Illustrated named the senior an SI All-American, joining only one other running back — Demarckus Bowman of Lakeland, Florida — on the team. During the 2019 season, Gibbs had 2,554 rushing yards, 40 rushing touchdowns and another score on a 97-yard kickoff return. He is verbally committed to Georgia Tech.

The article on si.com calls Gibbs a “breakout” running back, adding that “Gibbs’ senior season proved why he may be the most complete running back prospect in the class of 2020.”

“He runs with great balance and has as good a burst as any back across the board, but what separates him from the pack is his ability to make defenders miss,” according to the article. “The speed is there, the power is there and the vision is certainly there as he sets up blockers in front of him, but the wiggle is simply special.”

Earlier this month, Gibbs was officially honored as a 2020 All-American and presented his All-American jersey during a ceremony at Dalton High.

Gibbs is rated as a four-star running back by both Rivals.com and 247 Sports.
