VALDOSTA – Downtown Valdosta Main Street has a slew of events brewing in coming months including its Love Downtown Valdosta campaign and the Food Truck Crawl.
Love Downtown Valdosta kicks off Monday, Feb. 1, and lasts throughout the entire month. Its purpose is to draw attention to the various shops and restaurants in the area during “slower spending months,” according to a city statement.
“This campaign is to remind people to come downtown, love downtown and support our local business down here,” Ellen Hill, Main Street director, said in the statement.
Each time people spend $25, they will be entered into a drawing for $200 in Downtown Dollars, the statement read.
The Valdosta Love Lock Fence, the campaign’s second component, is in Bennie’s Alley. People can put a lock to the fence as a display of love toward their partner, children or pets, the statement read. The fence is a free public art project, organizers stated.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Food Truck Crawl.
The crawl is 5-8:30 p.m., March 18.
It was introduced in 2020 as a re-invention of Food Truck Thursday. Trucks will be scattered throughout parts of Downtown Valdosta.
Rachel Thrasher, Main Street program coordinator, said a list of selected trucks and an event map will be released one week prior to the crawl.
Applications are online at valdostamainstreet.com, listed under “Food Truck Thursday – 2021 Signup.”
