The Valiants advanced to the semifinals with a pair of wins Tuesday in Hahira — 3-0 over Southland Academy and 3-2 over Brookstone of Columbus.

It seemed like it would be a relative cakewalk for Valwood into the semifinals after they won their first two sets against Brookstone (25-21, 25-13, according to MaxPreps). Brookstone evened the county with two exceptionally tight sets, 25-20 and 25-23.

Valwood moved on with a 15-9 fifth set.

Official stats show Caylee Collins with 15 kills and Kam Register with 12 against Brooksstone. Collins served seven aces. Presley Allen had 12 digs and Morgan Hamm delivered 27 assists.

Set scores were 25-10, 25-18 and 25-18 over Stratford. Hamm and Abby O’Neal had 15 assists each. Register recorded 10 kills, with Olivia Brooks contributing 13 digs.

The Valiants are the No. 2 team in the brackets to Heritage’s No. 3. Loganville Christian is No. 1 in Class AAA. Heritage’s Lady Hawks are in this round after defeating George Walton and Strong Rock Christian.

Tickets to the semifinals are $15 for adults and $10 for students, according to a post on Valwood’s Facebook page. The GIAA will livestream the games.
