SGMC Health is pleased to welcome obstetrician and gynecologist Ene Grace Morgan, MD. Dr. Morgan joins Jerthitia Taylor, MD, and Ellen Courson, MD, at SGMC Women’s Health at 3312 N. Oak St. Ext. in Valdosta.
As an OBGYN, Dr. Morgan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will further enhance SGMC’s comprehensive range of women’s services. She will see women of all ages, especially those with concerns about their reproductive health.
Morgan believes that medicine is a calling and her goal is to genuinely listen to every patient and provide care that is backed by evidence. She chose to specialize in OBGYN services because she is passionate about women’s advocacy and this field allows her to care for women throughout every stage of their lives.
“I always imagine patients to be someone in my family, and I think that helps me to really see them. My goal is to always provide the best care while being sensitive to a patient’s values,” she shared.
Morgan received her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ascension Providence in Michigan.
She says she is excited to join SGMC because of the cheerful and kind impressions of the staff. “When I interviewed, I immediately noticed how everyone would greet me genuinely, and I look forward to living in such a hospitable community,” she shared.
Morgan also enjoys performing surgeries, both abdominal and robotic. She loves staying physically active, such as hiking and working out.

Powerhouse technician earns Stihl gold certification
VALDOSTA – Jonathon Fender of Stockton has brought home the gold.
Fender earned Stihl gold-level certification. He is a small-engine technician at Powerhouse Outdoor Equipment’s Valdosta store, company representatives said in a statement.
Stihl invited Fender to participate in gold-level training in working on its lawn-care products.
“We would like to congratulate Jonathon for a rare achievement in our industry,” said Ray Hedgecock, Powerhouse Outdoor Equipment president. “After participating in bronze and silver training in Orlando (Fla.), he was asked to go to Virginia Beach, Va., to take Stihl’s gold certification.
“This is not a participation trophy, Jonathon spent four days in Virginia Beach attending Stihl training and at the end of the training passed his class with a 96%. This is an extremely difficult test. We are very proud of him for passing,” Hedgecock said.
Stihl is a leading manufacturer of commercial and homeowner lawn-care products. Its factory is based in Virginia Beach and distributes “to thousands of dealers across the nation, a majority of our battery- and gas-powered tools are made and sold right here in America,” company representatives said.
Powerhouse Outdoor Equipment is an outdoor equipment dealership with three South Georgia locations: Valdosta, Tifton and Warner Robins. The True Value rental location in Warner Robins is also part of the Powerhouse family.
Fender has worked as a small-engine technician for several years in South Georgia. He has been employed with Powerhouse since July 2021. He is also a volunteer firefighter with Stockton-Lanier Fire Rescue. He is married to wife Morgan and they have a son, Israel.
Hedgecock said Fender will continue training with plans to earn platinum level status, which is Stihl’s highest level of certification.
“We would like to thank Lee LeFiles and Kevin Jenkins with Stihl Southeast for their help in getting Jonathon prepared to take this important test,” Hedgecock said.
