— B. Tift County were the Angels.

— C. LOHI was the shortened form of Lowndes. It was sometimes stylized as LoHi. Other high schools in the state have used shortened forms over the years, including ATCO (Atkinson County), Wilco (Wilkinson County) and Waco (Washington County).

— B. Lowndes County High used the nickname of Golden Eagles, with gold and blue as the team colors.

— C. Magnolia High in Thomasville used Buccaneers as its nickname.

— Doerun, Norman Park and Moultrie formed Colquitt County.

Facilities

— A. Tiftarea Academy originally was located in the old Ty Ty school, which burned in April 1971. Tiftarea moved into the old Chula school until its new building finished.

— A. Lanier County was unique for its auditorium stage basketball court. The stage still stands, renovated with the Threatte Center on the southern edge of Lakeland. Because the court was not regulation length, some rules adjustments had to be made.

— B. Tifton hosted many of the Georgia Interscholastic Association’s state baseball tournaments at Eve Park.

— C. School bus. Cook did fix up the bus, inside and out to make it a proper space.

— A. Ravenwood. Riverview and Southwood also were private schools. Riverview spent most of its years in Albany and Southwood was located in Waycross.

Rules

— A. One point. The two-point conversion was introduced for the 1969 season. Before then, running and passing for a conversion counted the same as kicking for one.

— B. Rovers were the crossing players in the transition period. The rover years brought mixed opinions from Georgia high school coaches, with some wishing girls had immediately jumped into 5-on-5.

— A. Three-pointers. The ABL and ABA each had threes, but they were not made permanent in the NBA until 1979. The NCAA had only installed the three-pointer for all teams and all games in 1986 for men and 1987 for women.

— C. 3A and C. Class C was abolished in 1972 as there were very few teams its size. In its last season, Class C teams had an average daily attendance below 300. Class AAA teams were 1,050 average daily attendance and above. Class 4A was introduced in 1978, with 5A in 2000 and 6A in 2012.
