— Blendz Barber Shop celebrated its opening at a new location, 2153 Bemiss Road, on Feb. 1. Owner Derrick Powell said in a statement there will also be live entertainment every first week of the month, including bands, poetry and comedy.

— Valdosta’s new cajun eatery, Louisiana Eats, opened recently at 1406 N. Ashley St., across from the old Coca-Cola bottling plant. That location began as a burger joint and transitioned first into pizza, then into barbecue before going cajun.

— Mattress by Appointment has a storefront operation in Valdosta. It’s located at 1625 Baytree Road Suite F.
