- Staff at Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital recently celebrated the opening of a pediatric acute unit for children ages 5-11.
VALDOSTA — Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital has announced the opening of its new pediatric acute unit tailored to meet the needs of children between the ages of 5 to 11 years old.
“Our community recognizes the need for a dedicated space to support children’s mental health,” Greenleaf said in a press release. “Greenleaf’s team of passionate individuals, including mental health professionals, nurses, and providers came together to turn this vision into reality.”
The unit includes a multidisciplinary team of experts, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, counselors, and recreational therapists, all dedicated to providing personalized care and support, Greenleaf said.
“Through individual therapy sessions, group activities and family counseling, we aim to empower children to navigate their emotions, build resilience, and flourish,” the press release said.
Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital is a 113-bed behavioral health and substance abuse treatment hospital located in Valdosta. It offers inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programming for adolescents, teens, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues, and other mental health illnesses, according to the hospital’s website.
