UNG cadet Blake Jaramillo honored at awards ceremony
DAHLONEGA— More than 100 military awards and scholarships were presented to University of North Georgia cadets at the March Military Awards Ceremony and a pair of April events during Alumni Weekend.
Cadets were presented with awards and scholarships for academic achievement, potential for leadership, and high moral character.
Cadet Blake Jaramillo from Hahira, received the Chad Allessio Memorial Scholarship and the Charles and Kelli Schell Memorial Scholarship.
Samford University names Mary Griner to dean’s list
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mary Griner of Valdosta was among the 1,931 students named to Samford University’s Dean’s List for the spring 2024 semester.
To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. The Dean’s List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.
SRTC nursing graduates honored in pinning ceremony
THOMASVILLE — On Monday, May 6, Southern Regional Technical College held a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Moultrie during which 32 Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) students received their nursing pins. The ceremony commemorates the students’ successful completion of their nursing coursework and clinical rotations. This class of nursing students is eligible to participate in SRTC’s formal graduation ceremony on July 30 and will officially be Registered Nurses pending the passage of their board exams.

University of Georgia celebrates Class of 2024
ATHENS — The University of Georgia celebrated more than 8,000 candidates for graduation in the Class of 2024 during commencement ceremonies. The spring undergraduate ceremony took place Friday, May 10, in Sanford Stadium. The spring graduate ceremony was held in two sessions on Thursday, May 9, with the master’s/specialist ceremony starting at 10 a.m. and the doctoral ceremony starting at 2 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.
