Tifton: Tifton Council for the Arts to Receive $20k Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

TIFTON — Tifton Council for the Arts is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $ 20,000. This grant will support Arts Affair: a 2-day multidisciplinary arts festival held annually in Tifton, Georgia. In total, the NEA will award 1,135 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $37 million as part of its second round of fiscal year 2024 grants.
“Projects like Arts Affair exemplify the creativity and care with which communities are telling their stories, creating connection, and responding to challenges and opportunities in their communities—all through the arts,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “So many aspects of our communities such as cultural vitality, health and wellbeing, infrastructure, and the economy are advanced and improved through investments in art and design, and the National Endowment for the Arts is committed to ensuring people across the country benefit.”

“We are very excited about the ability to expand Arts Affair, and are deeply indebted to the NEA for supporting our event, and consequently enriching the entire Tifton community,” said Executive Director for the Tifton Council for the Arts, Bruce Green.
The Arts Affair festival is a 2 day celebration of creativity held in and around the grounds of the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center in the heart of downtown Tifton, Georgia.
Highlights of the festival include:
- Arts Affair exhibit in the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center featuring juried works by local and national artists. This exhibit will remain open 3 weeks after Arts Affair festival for the continued enjoyment of the community.
- Outdoor artists’ market
- Live performances by local musicians, bands, and national talent
- Live artist demonstrations in multiple disciplines
- Children’s Art Circus featuring activities and interactive experiences for local youth.
- Children’s evening lantern Parade
- Author’s row celebrating the literary arts and local authors.
- Sweet Taste featuring goods from local hobbyist bakers and confectioners.
