VALDOSTA — A domestic dispute flared up Saturday, resulting in a suspect fighting with police officers, a police statement said.
Around 8:45 p.m., officers headed to the 900 block of Brookhaven Drive after an E911 caller said her two sons were fighting inside a home and damaging property, a Valdosta Police Department statement said.
Family members were able to lock one of the sons, later identified by police as the primary aggressor, out of the house, the statement said. The suspect forced his way back inside and hit a family member in the head with a baseball bat, police said.
When officers arrived, they found the suspect in the front yard; he was taken into custody. When they tried to put him in a police car, he resisted, cursing at officers and kicking one in the face, according to the statement.
The officers got him into the patrol car and took him to the Lowndes County Jail.
Police said Hercules Phillipe Lefevre, 36, of Valdosta was charged with felony aggravated assault-family violence, felony home invasion in the first degree, felony terroristic threats-family violence, felony criminal damager to property-family, felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer by use of force, two felony counts of terrorist threats and felony interference with government property.
The family member who was struck in the head was treated at SGMC and released.
