VALDOSTA — The City of Valdosta has adjusted permitting fees for power meter installations through Nov. 1 as part of the city’s ongoing effort to reduce financial strain on the community as it recovers from recent weather-related disruptions.

This temporary adjustment applies to all residents seeking power meter installations within the city limits, the city said in a press release this week.

“Our goal with this adjustment is to support residents during a time when many are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene,” said Rick Mefford, inspection manager for the City of Valdosta. “We want to make the process of restoring power as smooth and affordable as possible.”

Residents or businesses who have already paid the power meter installation permitting fees prior to this announcement will not be eligible for reimbursement, the city said.
