Downtown hosts Witches Night Out, Movie in the Park

VALDOSTA — Downtown Valdosta is brimming with excitement as Main Street’s highly anticipated Witches Night Out returns! On Friday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m., the streets will come alive with a thrilling evening of fun, fantastic deals, and magical shopping experiences. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their most creative witch costumes and join the festivities.

City Manager Richard Hardy emphasized the importance of events like Witches Night Out for the local economy, stating, “Downtown shopping is vital to the economic health of Valdosta, and events like Witches Night Out not only bring the community together but also provide a significant boost to our local businesses. By drawing residents and visitors to our downtown area, we help support small businesses and foster continual progress and development in the heart of our city.”

Assistant City Manager Catherine Ammons adds, “Witches Night Out is always a fun and dynamic experience. It’s a chance for friends to dress up, enjoy shopping in our wonderful downtown, and then relax together with a festive movie at Unity Park. The combination of costumes, shopping, and entertainment makes for a perfect evening, and we look forward to seeing everyone join in the fun.”

This year’s event will feature special promotions at local businesses throughout downtown, offering exciting deals at nearly every stop, the city said. Participants will receive a passport with a map detailing the locations of all participating businesses. Shoppers are invited to visit each stop and take advantage of the exclusive offers and surprises available that evening.

The event will conclude with a special movie night at Unity Park, featuring a screening of “Hocus Pocus,” a popular film about three mischievous witches, adding a touch of enchantment to the evening.

Main Street Manager Kym Hughes concluded by highlighting the value of combining events like Witches Night Out with Movies in the Park, stating, “We’re excited to bring these two events together to create a magical evening for the community. Witches Night Out has always been a favorite, and adding the movie night at Unity Park enhances the experience. It’s a great way for people to spend the evening shopping, enjoying our local businesses, and then capping it off with a fun, family-friendly movie under the stars. We look forward to making this a unforgettable event for all.”
