More pleasant weather on the way

VALDOSTA — South Georgia can look forward to another week of sunny skies and clear nights, forecasters said Friday.
“Not a whole lot to talk about weatherwise,” said Don van Dyke, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Tallahassee, Fla., office.
“It’s a pretty stagnant pattern.”
The National Weather Service’s forecast for Valdosta through Thursday shows clear or mostly clear skies with highs in the mid-to high 80s and lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
The normal average high for the Azalea City for this time of year is 79 while the average low is 55, van Dyke said.
No significant weather systems are in sight. Forecasters may have to keep an eye for possible tropical weather developments, but not within the next week, said Tom Kines, senior meteorologist for the private forecasting firm AccuWeather.
A possible weak frontal system may move into the South Georgia region Monday or Tuesday, shaving a few degrees off temperatures, he said.
Neither meteorologist expected any severe weather in the region in the next week.
