VALDOSTA — By Dec. 1, all residents previously relying on CodeRed must register with AlertLowndes to continue receiving National Weather Service warnings and other alerts.
AlertLowndes is a free service available to all residents to replace the previous CodeRed system. AlertLowndes will send critical notifications directly from county officials, informing individuals of severe weather conditions and other emergencies.
With the switch to AlertLowndes, residents can receive alerts through phone, text, and email. The system also allows for interactive poll questions that help officials gather important information during emergencies.
Residents are encouraged to register to the new platform, as users of CodeRed will not roll into AlertLowndes. To sign up, visit www.lowndescounty.com, click the AlertLowndes logo, and enter your information.
“AlertLowndes strengthens Lowndes County officials’ ability to communicate with residents when it matters most,” said Ashley Tye, director of Lowndes County Emergency Management. “This service allows for critical communication with the public and provides individuals with the information needed to stay safe or take precautions during hazardous or emergency situations.”
Lowndes County officials encourage all residents to register for AlertLowndes and stay informed as the community prepares for a safer and more connected future.
