On Dec. 12, Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. the Fa La La Ladies Tea will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., when downtown merchants are staying open to accommodate after-hours shopping.

The Crescent became the home of Valdosta’s six local garden clubs in 1951, when it was scheduled to be torn down because it had become quite dilapidated.. The ladies raised the funds to purchase it, saving it from the wrecking ball, and soon afterwards began renovations. The third floor ballroom was finally renovated in 1980. The Crescent has been a mainstay of the community for weddings, parties, flower shows, meetings, and a variety of events, including educational and charitable activities, over the years.
