VALDOSTA — A body was found in a disused restaurant building in Valdosta Friday.

Around 8;15 a.m., an E911 caller said he had found a dead body inside the long-vacant Ichiban Steakhouse building in the 2900 block of North Ashley Street, a statement from the Valdosta Police Department said.

The body was partially decomposed, the statement said.

Investigation identified the body as that of a 46-year-old Valdosta man who appeared to have been staying in the building for a while. Family members told detectives the man had health issues, police said.

Evidence did not show any signs of foul play or trauma and the death appears to be from natural causes, the police statement said.
