VALDOSTA — An Atkinson County woman was killed Friday in a Brooks County car crash.

Around 8:13 p.m., Georgia State Patrol troopers headed to a wreck at the intersection of GA 38 and the Dixie-Barwick Road in Brooks County, a GSP statement said.

A Chevrolet pickup failed to yield after stopping at a stop sign and headed into the intersection when it was hit by a Ford Mustang, the state patrol said.

The Chevy wound up in a grass field while the Mustang hit a tree; a passenger in the Chevrolet — Sharon Lee Norton of Willacoochee — died at the Brooks County Hospital, troopers said.
