HAHIRA— Valwood’s star running back Triston White made it official on Wednesday, signing with Northern Illinois University (NIU) to join the Huskies for the 2025-26 season. White’s signing ceremony was a proud moment for his family, teammates, and coaches, marking the next step in a standout career.
Head coach Brad Wells, who has watched White grow into one of Valwood’s all-time greats, spoke highly of his former player. “When it comes to playing football, he is ultra-competitive,” Wells said. “He is a guy you can lean on to make big plays. I think his best football is ahead of him.”
White, who finished his high school career with over 3,200 rushing yards and 4,400 all-purpose yards, expressed his excitement for the future.
“I am going to be the same Triston,” stated White. “I am going to work ten times harder to get where I want to get. I have not reached my goal yet. I am good, but I am trying to be great.”
Known for a relentless work ethic and dynamic talent, White is expected to thrive in NIU’s offense, which has a strong tradition of showcasing running backs. White leaves behind a strong legacy as he enters the collegiate level of play, noted by coach Wells as “one of the best players to ever play at this school.”
