VALDOSTA — The city of Valdosta coped Tuesday with its second water main break in as many days.

The latest break was in an eight-inch water main near 800 Penny Place and Lake Park Road, a statement from the city said.

Work crews were dispatched, and southbound traffic on Lake Park Road was closed, with a detour set up at Cummings Street. The city advised that those living in the area may have little or no water pressure in the area.

Monday, a 12-inch water main on Gornto Road near the YMCA caused low pressure as far as the 2200 block of Baytree Road, causing Walmart on Norman Drive to close and impacting both Valdosta State University and Lowndes High School. Students at LHS were given the option of checking out and taking classes by virtual instruction.

Pressure to areas affected by the Gornto Road trouble appeared to have improved by Monday evening after repairs had been made.
