This weekend will also see the permanent closing of the DRCs in Butts and Tift counties.

Excluding these specific events, DRCs are typically open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Residents who suffered damage from Hurricane Helene can apply for assistance at any DRC in Georgia, according to a press release from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. You can find the center closest to you at fema.gov/drc.

Applications for assistance can also be made by calling toll-free 800-621-3362, online at DisasterAssistance.gov, or by downloading the FEMA App. Help on the phone line is available in most languages. If you use a relay service such as VRS, captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service. The deadline for applications is Jan. 7, 2025.

FEMA also reminded homeowners, renters, businesses and non-profits can apply for a Small Business Administration low-interest loan to repair or replace property that was damaged or destroyed by the storm. Apply online at sba.gov/disaster or at a FEMA DRC. The deadline for SBA loan applications is also Jan. 7, 2025.
