Dr. Carl Camon: Remembering America’s Moral President

I’m saddened by the loss of who I call America’s Moral President. No one is perfect, but President Jimmy Carter was a living example of how to balance family, business, and politics and still respect your fellow man and honor God.
Many years ago my family and I met the Carters at the church where he taught Sunday School in Plains. After church, my wife, two sons and our daughter Camille had an opportunity to talk with them and found them to be as down to earth as one could be. First Lady Rosalyn asked to hold our daughter while we all took a picture together. That was twenty-six years ago, but it feels like yesterday. What an honor that was for a First Lady to actually hold our daughter.
I had another opportunity to share a meal with President Carter, while at a fundraiser in Plains about 14 years ago.
Regardless of what anyone says, he was an awesome example of how a Christian is supposed to carry themselves in and out of office. We need more Jimmy Carters in our world today.
Rest In Peace, Mr. President.
