Lady ‘Cats win twice at Thomasville

THOMASVILLE — Valdosta High’s Lady Wildcats won two out of three games at the Holiday Hoopfest Thomasville High to close out the 2024 portion of their schedule.

Valdosta won easy games against Brooks County and Worth County, but lost in the last few seconds against Lincoln of Tallahassee.

Thursday, they led off the tournament with a 49-21 victory over neighboring Brooks County. Brooks led 6-3 after a quarter before Valdosta came roaring back with 21 in the second.

Brooks never scored more than seven in a quarter.

Official stats on MaxPreps show Lauren Bloom leading VHS with 13 points. Kamari Carter and Summer Eberhart each scored 8. Eberthart barely missed a double-double as she pulled down 10 rebounds.

The Lady ‘Cats had a 39-13 lead against Worth at halftime Saturday.

Friday’s loss to Lincoln saw Valdosta build up a 40-23 lead through three quarters. Lincoln scored the first 13 of the fourth and kept up the pressure.

Valdosta’s next stop is its Region 1-6A schedule, which starts Jan. 3 at Richmond Hill. One night later, they host Camden County at the Cat Cage.
