VALDOSTA — Police want the public’s help in finding an “armed and dangerous” murder suspect.

Around 3:10 am., officers headed to the 700 block of Stillwater Drive after E911 received calls about gunshots, police said. One caller said someone appeared to be lying on the ground next to a vehicle.

Police found the victim unresponsive on the ground with “obvious signs of trauma,” police said. The man died at the scene.

Timothy Willis, Lowndes County deputy coroner, confirmed the man had gunshot wounds.

The Tuesday statement described Washington as an African-American male, 5-foot-6-inches in height, 135 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

Police said he should be considered “armed and dangerous” and that anyone helping him evade arrest will be charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
