VALDOSTA — On March 8, the McKey Building in Downtown Valdosta will host an Adult Prom, an exciting event designed to bring the community together for a night of fun and fundraising.
Proceeds from the event will support the QUOLA Soup Kitchen, an organization dedicated to providing meals for the homeless and those in need.
Erica Miller, executive director of QUOLA, shared the mission and need for the event. “We feed about 200 a day, and a majority of them are homeless,” Miller said. “Last year, we pretty much funded everything out of pocket. We did get some donations, but it cost to feed.”
This is the first time QUOLA has used an adult prom as a way to fund their work. However, Miller has personal experience organizing these events, having created them in the past. The event theme is “A Magical Night,” with attendees getting to relive or reimagine their prom night.
The 2025 Adult Prom will offer a variety of activities to ensure attendees have an entertaining night. The evening will feature a live DJ, a prom king and queen ceremony, and a photographer at the event to capture special memories.
Guests will also have food included with their ticket, with a cash bar available for beverages. Miller hopes that attendees enjoy the event, knowing their money supports those in need within the community.
Tickets are available at an early bird price of $50 per person until January 10, after which they will increase to $75. In addition to ticket sales, sponsorship opportunities are available, allowing local businesses to advertise and show their support for the cause.
Miller also highlighted the event’s accessibility, encouraging everyone in the community to attend. “You do not need a date to come,” she said. “Grab your friends, your spouse, or just yourself. Come have a good time for a good cause.”
