GMC closing campuses Friday for weather

MILLEDGEVILLE — Georgia Military College announced early Thursday afternoon that it would close all of its facilities Friday due to the severe winter weather forecast.
This includes the main campus, prep school, and all junior college satellite locations across the state, which includes a facility in Valdosta.
“Current reports predict hazardous conditions during the morning and afternoon commute times for our students, parents, faculty, and staff,” GMC’s announcement said. “With freezing temperatures contributing to unpredictable road conditions and potential power outages, this proactive decision prioritizes the safety of the entire GMC community.”
Given that GMC’s service areas include communities directly in the storm’s path, all campus operations will be suspended on Friday. Even in regions that may experience minimal winter weather, institutional closure will limit GMC’s ability to provide essential support to those locations.
GMC encourages all students, faculty, and staff to follow local and state travel advisories and remain safe as weather patterns evolve over the next several days. Campus operations and classes are scheduled to resume as normal on Monday.
