VALDOSTA — Both Valdosta City Schools and Lowndes County Schools have announced they will resume classes on Friday.
Jennifer Steedley, director of public relations for Valdosta City Schools, wrote in an email to The Valdosta Daily Times, ” According to local emergency management officials and law enforcement, roads are expected to be safe for travel. However, drivers are urged to use caution as some areas may still have unexpected icy conditions.
“We are excited to welcome our students and staff back to school and appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation during yet another unprecedented weather event,” she said. “As always, the safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. Please allow extra travel time and exercise care on the roads.”
Lauren Odom, director of public relations for Lowndes County Schools, echoed that sentiment. “As the snow and ice have began to melt from the roads and conditions have improved, we will be reopening all schools and system offices tomorrow, Friday, January 24th,” she wrote.
