Gun fired at Valdosta Mall

An ambulance and a Valdosta fire truck were among the support that were dispatched to the Valdosta Mall Sunday after a report of a gunshot inside.
VALDOSTA — Valdosta police and other first responders rushed to the Valdosta Mall Sunday afternoon shortly before 3 p.m. after a gun was fired in the mall.
No one was injured, police said. The shot appeared to have been an accident.
Witnesses reported heavily armed police responding to the incident, and a police car pulled onto the sidewalk nearly to the entrance of the mall.
The mall was on lockdown for a short time but had returned to normal operations before 3:30 p.m.
The investigation is continuing and more information is expected to be released on Monday.
