VALDOSTA — The Valdosta Fire Department is accepting applications for Recruit Class 13.
This recruitment drive offers an exceptional opportunity for motivated individuals to join a team dedicated to community safety, professional growth, and excellence within the fire service, the VFD said in a press release.
Successful recruits will participate in a fully paid training program designed to equip them with the skills needed to excel as firefighters. The department covers all training costs, ensuring candidates receive high-quality instruction without financial burden.
“Our paid recruit training program is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about serving Valdosta,” shared Captain Mathew Davis, head of the Training Division. “We’re bringing the classroom and hands-on training directly to our city, allowing recruits to learn and grow without leaving the community they’ll serve. It’s a chance to build a career with purpose and make a real difference.”
Among the many benefits of joining VFD are competitive incentives, including college incentive pay to encourage ongoing education and ISO incentive pay that rewards exceptional performance. From the first day of employment, recruits begin accruing paid vacation and sick leave, gain access to comprehensive health insurance, and can take advantage of the City of Valdosta’s free health clinic.
“We’re looking for individuals who want to be part of something bigger than themselves,” said Fire Chief Brian Boutwell. “Joining the Valdosta Fire Department is more than a job; it’s a commitment to protecting our community, growing as a professional, and being part of a team that values excellence and service.”
