Man faces drug, weapons charges

VALDOSTA — A Valdosta man faces drug and weapons charges after his arrest Friday.
Around 8:45 p.m., a police K9 unit made a traffic stop on a car in the 500 block of East Force Street, a Valdosta Police Department statement said.
The officer saw a clear bag with marijuana on a vehicle seat and a firearm in a cupholder.
A 71-year-old Valdosta man was detained without incident. Officers seized more than 265 grams of marijuana, items indicative of narcotic sales, currency and a firearm, the statement said.
The suspect was charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and misdemeanor possession of drug-related items.
