VALDOSTA— In a display of unity and heritage, Valdosta marked celebrated its inaugural Black History Month Parade Saturday, hosted by the Southern Georgia Black Chambers.
The parade began at Pinevale Elementary School and proceeded along Old Lake Park Road. It then turned left onto East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive before disbanding under the overpass.
In a showing of broad community support, attendees lined the streets as city officials and community leaders made their way down the route, passing the Martin Luther King Jr. monument near the end of the parade.
