VALDOSTA — Last week, SGMC Health began a phased installation of more than 300 new Centrella Smart+ patient beds across its campuses, a $7.8 million investment.
The new “smart” beds are equipped with advanced technology aimed at preventing patient falls and pressure injuries, while also offering effective patient monitoring capabilities.
Cherise Giddens, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of SGMC Health, said, “This investment is a testament to our dedication to providing exceptional healthcare services. By integrating cutting-edge technology into our patient care environments, we aim to enhance the safety, comfort, and overall experience for our patients, while also supporting our staff with tools that promote efficiency and excellence in care delivery.”
This bed upgrade complements the ongoing $150 million main campus expansion, which includes the development of a new Women and Infants Tower, an Emergency and Trauma Center and comprehensive campus redesigns to improve accessibility and patient experience.
