VALDOSTA – In a groundbreaking success, the Greater Valdosta United Way (GVUW) “2025 Leading the Way” Campaign has officially achieved its goal of $1.2 million, marking a historic milestone for the organization and showcasing the community’s overwhelming support for local initiatives.
The Community Investment Committee (CIC) and GVUW board members played a key role in the campaign’s success through the Community Investment Process, which emphasizes a community-driven funded process, the GVUW said in a press release. Their strategic oversight resulted in the reviewing and approving of a record-breaking $830,000 to support 23 Impact Partner Non-Profits and 41 programs and services offered to the community.
Impact Partners assist individuals and families in Atkinson, Bacon, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Coffee, Echols, Jeff Davis, Lanier, Lowndes, and Ware counties that focus on basic needs, housing & shelter, mental health training & awareness, youth & after-school programs.
“It has been my privilege to serve as the 2025 campaign chair,” said Jennifer Price, GVUW board member. “Through detailed planning and management, the Greater Valdosta United Way drives meaningful outcomes for the community and uses every single dollar to its fullest potential. “
GVUW’s successful campaign will also provide $100,000 in grants to local nonprofits and direct assistance to those in need, helping empower the region to thrive, the United Way chapter said. An additional $300,000 has been set aside for recovery efforts following the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. These funds will offer immediate relief, including emergency shelter, food, medical supplies, and mental health services, while also supporting long-term recovery initiatives such as home rebuilding and the restoration of essential community services.
The contributions from both individual and corporate donors have been essential in supporting the organization’s mission, GVUW said. The impact of these donations will directly benefit the community and further the organization’s efforts to create lasting positive change in South Georgia.
Hunter Kimble, Platinum Roofing’s chief operating officer, said, “We’re so grateful for the incredible support from the Valdosta community over the years. Donating to the Greater Valdosta United Way allows us to express our thanks by giving back to the local organizations that mean so much to all of us. It’s a wonderful way for our entire team to participate in making a difference.”
With this significant achievement, the Greater Valdosta United Way is poised to further its mission to create lasting change, the organization said.
“The funds will continue to support local nonprofits and initiatives, building a stronger, healthier community for all,” the GVUW press release said. “Donations are one way to help Greater Valdosta United Way, but there are many other ways to get involved throughout the year; volunteer at the semiannual Day of Caring, serve on nonprofit boards, or share the great things happening with GVUW.”
