VALDOSTA — Valdosta firefighters extinguished a structure fire Wednesday on Cranford Avenue. It was the third vacant structure in the city to catch fire in less than a week.
The Valdosta Fire Department responded about 2:39 p.m. Wednesday to 900 E. Cranford Ave., the fire department said in a release later that afternoon. The first fire unit arrived on scene in less than three minutes to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a single-story residence.
“Fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire and conducted a thorough search, confirming the structure was vacant,” the VFD statement said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injures to civilians or fire department personnel were reported.
The Valdosta Police Department and SGMC Health EMS assisted with on-scene operations.
The VFD extinguished a fire Sunday at a vacant duplex Sunday on Magnolia Street and another Tuesday at a vacant residence on Toombs Street.
