The U.S. Small Business Administration is hitting the road to help disaster survivors rebuild stronger in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

From April 7-17, SBA will host interactive sessions across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, giving disaster loan recipients a chance to learn how they can secure additional funds to protect their homes and businesses from future storms.

At each session, SBA specialists and industry experts will walk survivors through the process of applying for mitigation funding, explain eligibility requirements and showcase upgrades designed to reduce future storm damage.

Disaster loan recipients may qualify for up to a 20% increase on their approved physical damage loans to cover improvements such as reinforcing roofs, elevating buildings and installing flood barriers and storm-resistant windows.

“Investing in mitigation now can prevent costly damage later and may even lower insurance premiums,” said Chris Stallings, associate administrator for the SBA’s Office of Disaster Recovery & Resilience. “We’re committed to helping disaster survivors not just rebuild, but prepare for what’s ahead.”

Session locations and times are available on the SBA website event page at sba.gov/events. Survivors unable to attend in person can learn about mitigation options and request additional mitigation funds through the MySBA lending portal at lending.sba.gov.
