Lowndes’ Demps earns All-State recognition

ATLANTA — Lowndes’ Kaci Demps was named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State honorable mention team recently.
Demps, who went over 1,000 points for her career this season, helped lead the Vikettes to the Region 1-6A championship and a 22-8 overall record.
She was Lowndes’ leading scorer, averaging 14.5 points per game, according to official statistics. Demps led in assists and steals as well, averaging 4 and 5 per contest, respectively. She also pulled down 4.4 rebounds per game and block four shots for the season.
Demps shot 70% from the free throw line and 43% from inside the arc.
Mercer University is Demps’ next destination.
No other area players earned Class 6A All-State recognition by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this season.
With the leadership of Demps and others, the Vikettes advanced to the elite eight in the state tournament. Grayson, who knocked them out of the playoffs (57-54), fell by three points in the state championship.
