Police find man’s body

VALDOSTA — Valdosta police are awaiting the results of an autopsy after a man’s body was discovered in his home Sunday.

Police went to the residence in the 500 block of West Magnolia Street after family members requested a wellness check on a relative they hadn’t heard from in a couple of weeks, police said in a press release. During the search of the residence, officers found a male approximately 40 years of age deceased in a bedroom. 

Detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the residence to investigate the incident.

The body was taken to the Valdosta Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory to await an autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Laboratory, police said. Due to the advanced decomposition of the body, detectives are awaiting an exam from the GBI Medical Examiner to determine a cause of death.
