The Albert Converse House, first located in Troupville, was moved to Lowndes County’s new county seat, Valdosta, in 1860 to 305-307 North Patterson St. by Albert Converse Sr. and his wife, Mary Ann Ellis, both originally from Connecticut. This home was moved to 108 North Briggs Street in 1940 and demolished in 1958.
